R.H. Lewis, was born in a small New Jersey town. After several torturous years, he, along with his mother and two brothers, escaped to Massachusetts. Much of his book Run for Your Life is based on his early years. Married with two grown daughters and four grandchildren, he now resides in Florida. His life has always been dedicated to enriching lives. As a Youth pastor, teacher and coach it has always been his belief that within each person are planted the seeds of greatness and that it is his job to cultivate those seeds. For forty years he taught middle school math and for twenty-one of those years coached wildly successful math teams. In all, his teams won over 1000 awards. Mr. Lewis has been recognized as teacher of the year, Math coach of the year, Mathcounts coach of the year, and Prism teacher of the year. Now retired he writes, young adult novels, weaving mystery, suspense, and adventure with powerful life-changing messages. When Mr. Lewis isn’t writing or teaching he enjoys cartooning, oil painting, sculpturing and playing with his grandchildren.
Each book is filled with mind seeds that will unlock incredible power and grow brighter tomorrows.
The book, JOSH is based on my life as a child. In the story, Josh Taylor struggles to survive with an abusive stepfather. Like Josh, my fantasies were my reality. The math book that belonged to my (Josh’s) dad was filled with notes that he had written. The math book let me fill my head with a positive-uplifting-possibility world and shut out the negative world surrounding me. Like Josh, my courageous mother and I escaped the house of horror, only to be hunted down by my stepfather.
If you are being smothered in a situation similar to mine, you may find comfort in the world of math as I did. There is an organization called Mathcounts that offers a math club, where you can talk to members and coaches. For years, I coached winning Mathcounts teams and had a ball living out my fantasies.
